Raspberry Pi is one of the popular development boards out there. After all, it offers DIY enthusiasts an ease to create simple to complex electronics projects within less time, energy and cost.

Now, a development board that is much powerful than the newest Raspberry Pi board is set to change the game. Presenting the PICO-WHU4, a compact single-board computer built for AI and Edge computing by AAEON. As compared to Raspberry Pi’s most enhanced offering, the Raspberry Pi 4 that has Quad-core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC, the PICO-WHU4 is equipped with 8th Generation Intel® Core and Celeron® processors that are available in four variants: i7-8665UE (1.7GHz up to 4.4GHz), i5-8365UE (1.6GHz up to 4.1GHz), i3-8145UE (2.2GHz up to 3.9GHz) and 4305UE (2GHz). And it doesn’t stop there.

  • RAM: 16GB (as compared to Raspberry Pi 4 1GB, 2GB or 4GB)
  • Processing speed: 4.45 GHz (Raspberry Pi 4 has 1.5GHz)
  • I/O ports: 4 USB ports (including two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and two USB 2.0 headers), 2 Ethernet ports and 2 COM headers
  • Cooling option available
  • Power: 12V
  • Operating temperature: 0 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius

These powerful capabilities enable users to create projects that require high performance such as AI and Edge computing applications for smart retail and smart city.

The board measures 100mm x 72mm and costs US$ 783 (Raspberry Pi 4 price range is from US$ 35 to US$ 55). Although that is highly expensive, with such impressive specs on offer, it is really hard to argue.
